- Who are the Friends?
- The Friends of NJLBH are people dedicated to supporting the activities of the NJ State Library Talking Book and Braille Center (Formerly known as the New Jersey Library for the Blind and Handicapped). Anyone is welcome to become a member.
- What do they do?
- The Friends spread the word about the library. They support new programs and services.
- When do they meet?
- The Friends hold two meetings a year. The annual meeting is held the First Saturday in June in Middlesex county and the 2nd meeting is held the first Saturday in December in Mercer county. The Friends also produce 2 newsletters per year available by email or large print or cassette.
- How do the Friends help the library?
- The Friends have helped to purchase vehicles to be used for outreach as a Vision Van. The Friends have supported the Digital transition by purchasing cartridges and mailers for downloading of your favorite books and magazines. As a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization, the Friends can apply for Grants from organizations such as Comcast and Reforma. A recent Comcast grant was used for building the R TAC room at the Library. The Friends also support the purchase of equipment for the radio reading service AUDIOVISION.
- How can I become a member of the Friends?
- All you need to do is complete a Membership Form
and mail it along with your check made payable to The Friends of NJLBH to PO Box 434, Woodbridge, NJ 07095-0434.
- How can I make a donation to the Friends?
- As a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization, in most cases your donation is tax deductible. Please go to Membership Information and print out the Membership Form. You don't have to join (although we would love to have you). The form also includes donation information.
- Are my donations tax deductible?
- Yes, the Friends is a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization. In most cases your donation is tax deductible.
